What is a Trillion?
There is a new buzz word around Capitol Hill that politicians seem all too comfortable throwing around. Trillion. It apparently does not bother our leaders to talk about spending trillions and running up debts of trillions of dollars a year. We have in just a few short months made a quantum leap in the amount of money that an average person is comfortable talking about. Even at my young age of 23 I can remember thinking that my god what could a person ever do with a billion dollars, and Bill Gates has 50 of them! But now on a regular basis I use the amounts of hundreds of billions and even occasionally the word trillion without much thought to how much it actually is. The truly scary part is that I fear Obama is just getting started talking about the “T” word, if his 600 and some billion dollar health care initiative is just a down payment, I hate to think of the number that is going to be followed by the 12 0’s in the near future.
